Calculation of BID Tax Assessments

BID taxes will be assessed on all non-exempt commercial properties in the Anacostia BID Area at the rate of $0.16 per $100 assessed value:

Exempt Properties (Nonprofit and Governmental) PILOTs

The BID Act allows the Anacostia BID to solicit and accept voluntary contributions from exempt properties in the Anacostia BID Area and to benefit exempt properties within the Anacostia BID Area. Such contributions are known as payments in lieu of taxes (PILOTs). Owners of exempt properties that make voluntary contributions will be deemed members for the year of the contribution.

BID Tax Billing Cycle

BID taxes are billed twice a year at the same time as real property taxes – September and March of every year.  The BID tax is billed six months in advance:

  • The September billing is due on October 1st for October 1st through March 31st
  • The March billing is due on April 1st for April 1st through September 30th

 

NOTE: BID taxes CAN now be paid online!  DO NOT combine a BID tax payment with a real property tax payment. Each BID tax bill must be paid with a separate check or separate payment online.  BID taxes can be paid at any District of Columbia branch of Wells Fargo Bank or by mailing payment to the following address: Government of the District of Columbia
