The Anacostia BID is comprised of thirty (30) square blocks in the southeast quadrant of Washington, D.C., bounded by all lots bordering Howard Road, S.E., between Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, S.E., and the intersection with Anacostia Drive, S.E. on the west,  all lots bordering Good Hope Road, S.E., between the Anacostia River and the intersection with 18th Street, S.E.; on the north,  all lots bordering Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, S.E., between S Street, S.E., and the intersection with Magnolia Street, S.E. on the east, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, S.E., and the intersection with Magnolia Street, S.E. to the south.

The Anacostia BID will supplement the services already offered by the District of Columbia Government and work to address the needs that are prevalent in Anacostia as discussed throughout the Anacostia Business Improvement District Corporation’s business plan.  With the implementation of the Anacostia BID, the new programming will revitalize the commercial district and energize commercial property owners and commercial tenants to invest in the community.

A clean, safe, vibrant revitalized Anacostia business district will encourage commercial property owners, employees, residents, and customers to promote the area as a high priority destination.


 

The goals of the Anacostia BID are as follows:

  • To make the Anacostia BID Area clean, safe and vibrant community focused through providing supplemental services to those services that are currently provided by the District of Columbia Government.
  • To attract and retain commercial office and retail tenants
  • To attract local residents and visitors to be returning customers from the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan Area
  • To increase sales, create jobs and increase occupancy rates in commercial properties throughout the Anacostia BID Area.
  • To increase and manage public and private investment in the Anacostia BID Area.
  • To increase the use of technology for training and marketing throughout the Anacostia BID Area.

Getting Around Anacostia!

 


 

Access to Anacostia is easy! We are located on the Green line, get off at the Anacostia station exit. Garage parking is available at the Howard Road entrance. There are plenty of buses to take you downtown or take a stroll through the neighborhood. DC Circulator makes stops in Anacostia and there are several Capital Bikeshare stations located throughout the neighborhood. You can also walk, bike, or drive over the new 11th Street local bridge! There are plenty of ways to get to and around Anacostia. Plan your trip today!

Most of Anacostia’s businesses and attractions are located on Martin Luther King Jr. Ave SE and Good Hope Rd SE. Free on street parking is available on Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave SE and Good Hope Rd SE. A free parking lot is available at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Ave SE and W Street SE. This parking lot also includes Zip Cars!  A paid underground parking lot is located at 1800 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave SE. Underground parking is available only during weekdays.
